Lockdown 4 Days Perth and Peel

Perth and Peel will enter a minimum 4-day lockdown from 12.01am, Tuesday 29 June 2021 until 12.01am, Saturday 3 July, 2021.

Travel from Perth and Peel to other regions will not be permitted, unless for essential purposes.

Stay home

You are required to stay home unless you need to:

  • work because it’s not possible to work from home. Refer to the list of essential workers
  • shop for essentials like groceries, medicine and necessary supplies, including click and collect, within 5km from your home or closest practicable location
  • attend to medical or health care needs including emergencies, compassionate requirements and looking after the vulnerable;
  • exercise with a maximum of two adults from the same household (children under 18 years are not counted), limited to one hour per day within a 5km radius from home, and masks must be worn, except for vigorous exercise.
  • receive a COVID-19 vaccine, or
  • leave due to an emergency (e.g. emergencies, fleeing domestic violence).

Masks

  • Masks are mandatory:
    • indoors
    • outdoor public areas (except for vigorous exercise)
    • and on public transport.
  • Mask-wearing mandatory except for primary school students and those who are exempt.
  • Anyone who has travelled outside of the Perth and Peel regions since Sunday, 27 June must continue to wear face masks in public, as per the existing directions.

Visitors

Visitors to the home are only permitted for the following reasons:

  • essential services
  • critical maintenance
  • caregiving
  • compassionate grounds
  • in an emergency

Private indoor and outdoor gatherings are not permitted.

Intrastate travel

WA’s intrastate border is in place for affected regions.

Only essential travel is permitted, including:

  • Obtaining or providing essential goods or services that cannot be accessed in your region
  • Working if you are an essential worker
  • For specific care, medical reasons  and compassionate reasons
  • Leaving for an emergency purpose.

Travel restrictions to remote Aboriginal communities are still in place in WA.

Business and venues

The following facilities in the Perth and Peel will need to close:

  • Hospitality – Restaurants, cafés, pubs and bars to provide takeaway service only
  • Beauty, nail, hairdressing
  • Public venues (swimming pools, recreation centres)
  • Fitness venues (gyms, Pilates, yoga, dance studios)
  • Casinos
  • Nightclubs
  • Entertainment venues
  • Places of worship

Retail

  • Essential providers may open only.
  • Click-and-collect and delivery permitted for non-essential providers.

Schools, boarding schools and childcare centres

  • Open
  • Mask-wearing mandatory except for primary school students
  • Universities, TAFE and training colleges will be closed unless for critical activities

Weddings and funerals

  • 5 people permitted at weddings for compassionate reasons such as end-of-life.
  • 10 people permitted at funerals.

Residential aged and disability care

  • No visitors to residential aged care and/or disability facilities, except for exceptional circumstances such as essential care, compassionate reasons, end of life and advocacy;

Hospitals

  • No visitors to hospitals except for compassionate reasons, end of life, accompanying a child, supporting a partner giving birth.

Anyone who has been to one of the potential exposure locations will need to get tested and quarantine as per the instructions they are given. 

Exposure locations are being updated regularly so people are encouraged to check the information online at wa.gov.au. 

If people are deemed a close contact by public health officials, they will be tested and required to self-quarantine for 14 days. People are encouraged to get tested if they have symptoms.

WA COVID clinic operating hours will be extended as part of a testing surge. Testing locations and times are available on the HealthyWA website.

All these measures will be reviewed regularly and the Chief Health Officer will continue to monitor the serious situation and provide more ongoing advice.
